They are the Tango Escenario 2025 World Champions , embodying a strong and bold new voice in contemporary Argentine tango. Their work is distinguished by a rare fusion of tango, folklore, and contemporary dance, driven by a strong theatrical sensibility and profound emotional expression. Their victorious performance captivated audiences with its narrative power, musicality, and striking stage presence.
As artists and maestros, they approach tango as an art of storytelling in motion. Their workshops emphasize musical interpretation, expressive intention, and meaningful choreographic construction, while their performances offer intense, dramatic, and immersive experiences. Working with them and seeing them dance is to discover Tango Escenario as a living and deeply emotional art form, both on stage and in the studio.
Elena Bertagna & Paolo Lombardo
Paolo & Elena are professional Argentine tango maestros and dancers, active internationally and based in Bern, Switzerland. Founders of PYE Tango and the Luna Negra Tango School & Cultural Center, they share a vision of tango as a living art, deeply musical and expressive.
Paolo is an Argentinian tango dancer and maestro with extensive teaching experience; his background in composition and piano brings great musical finesse and structural clarity to the dance. Elena combines her experience in ballet, jazz, music, and languages in a sensitive approach to movement and connection. Together, they emphasize musicality, body awareness, and clarity of expression.
On stage as in the workshop, Paolo & Elena offer an elegant and deeply expressive tango, inviting dancers and spectators to experience tango as a dialogue between music, movement and emotion.
